I have the perfect patriotic drink that will be a SPLASH this summer with your family and friends! We made these wine slushies for the first time this last weekend for Memorial Day... and let's just say I'm obsessed. Whether it's for a cookout, a pool day, a hot summer day, or just a day that you would like a little frozen wine (aka every day).. this little drink will be perfect! The best part... you can make as much as you would like in advance!
First things first... to the grocery store! And if you live in Tennessee like us (who still doesn't serve wine at the grocery) then off to the liquor store as well.
Shopping List:
White Wine (I used Riesling)
Raspberries, Strawberries, or both
Blueberries optional
Food Coloring
Other things you may need:
Ice cube trays
Blender / Magic Bullet
Let's jump on in and make a splash into your summer! |
So just because I wanted to make things easy, I did the prep work the night before, which I highly recommend. You don't have to keep going back to the freezer to see if it's completely frozen or not. I started out with four ice cube trays and began filling them with white wine. Be sure not to fill them up completely because it will cause difficulty with the next step. 3/4 the way filled up works well.
After the trays are filled, place your raspberries or strawberries in a third of the cubes. I used one raspberry per cube or one slice of a strawberry. You can add in red food coloring for a brighter, stronger color if you would like. I did a tray of each and both looked nice! Just a personal preference. Next, fill a third of the cubes with a few blueberries or you can just use blue food coloring. I did both (as seen here). The blueberries give it a darker look, where only using food coloring will keep it a brighter, lighter blue. Keep the other third of the cubes plain, you can add a little wine to them if you would like to fill them completely. Next step: to the freezer! |
A finished product :) |
To see another way we got into the patriotic spirit this Memorial Day weekend... check out this cute Mason Jar Lantern tutorial here :) And to see other fun DIY tutorials, check those out here!
Perfect for all summer long, but especially 4th of July coming up before we know it! These can be used as lanterns or even to hold spoons, knives, and forks! Anyone can make these with this simple tutorial (even when you're unprepared like I was)! |
A little look into Memorial Day weekend at our house...
During the day of our get together.. this is what we did all. day. long. No complaints here :) Especially when you get to float around on your favorite foods. Doughnut + Pizza = love. |
Can't forget this sweet boy! He was right there in the mix the entire day. |
